A pair of Dippers (Buffleheads) Daddy made and painted totally by
himself in my lifetime. I remember him making them, between the
'60's and the '70's, probably in the early '70's. He made about six
pairs??? I seem to recall he made more drakes than hens. I do recall
him talking about putting a lot of white on the drakes because the
live drakes looked so white on the water. The lines are parachute
cord from Cherry Point. He hand poured the anchors. I know he
made them for use in his offshore stake blind, and I remember us
hunting with them there, but I also seem to recall hunting with some
of them at Great Island. JCH 13 Dec 2006
